Camino 2025 Day 11 My final day on the Camino
Today I started in Arzúa I stayed in a basic albergue last night which was just fine. I sleep well these days as I am walking long distances and am simply tired.
I woke up to what I would call heavy drizzle, enough that I put on my pack cover and my rain gear. I left the albergue just before 7 so I needed my headlamp as it really does not get light until at least 7:30. I decided to walk to Santiago today. Another 25 mile day. I walked along in the rain this morning and the demons came out. Specifically the bus demon and the taxi demon. I considered the offers of both as they were tempting. I even for a minute decided that it would be ok as I have many Compostela’s. If I let one of those demons win I would not be entitled to a Compostela. Then I managed to step in a slippery muddy area and down I went. So now I am covered in dirt and mud. Fantastic. But I picked myself up brushed myself off and said ok Lord I hear you and off I went. When I finally found a bar open I cleaned myself up, ate a delicious Bacon and Cheese Bocadillo a cafe con leche and to top it of a shot of espresso and decided to suck it up and walk to Santiago.
So here I am in Santiago having walked every step and I can tell you that the shower felt so damn good. The water in the sower pan was brown for a while as I cleaned to caked mud off my legs but it’s all gone now and I feel great. I am going to go and get my Compostela this afternoon, have a nice dinner tonight and go to Mass.
This has been a good Camino. On to the next adventure.
